Surgeon – Mr. Jason R Eyre

I am a Yorkshire-trained orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in disorders of the foot and ankle.

I graduated from Leeds Medical School and trained in Yorkshire, completing my local Foot & Ankle Fellowship with Nick Harris & Ray Monkhouse, before heading to Bristol for the prestigious Sports Foot & Ankle Fellowship at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre / Sports Orthopaedic Clinic, with Ian Winson & Steve Hepple. My training was completed with a BOFAS national Fellowship to Zurich, Switzerland, with Dr Pascal Rippstein. I commenced my substantive Consultant role in the Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals in 2014.

Clinically I have a regional practice in early arthritis of the Foot & Ankle, and have research interests in the management of Osteochondral Lesions, Lower Limb Trauma, Medical Education, and Medical Informatics / Machine learning and AI. These latter interests are developed through regular involvement with undergraduate and registrar training, where my IT skills and interest in Medical Simulation are widely recognised.

Outside of work, I am a military reservist. I enjoy running, hill walking, sailing, cycling, and golf. I enjoy skiing and have an interest in extreme sports. My family and I enjoy travel, live music, and music festivals. I am renovating a historic home, and enjoy good Yorkshire ale; particularly with trainees whilst providing support, mentorship, and “reflecting”!

I have presented at numerous national and international conferences and have contributed to scientific literature in trauma, sports injury, and orthopaedic surgery.

I am a keen teacher and hold honorary senior lecturer status at Leeds Medical School. I am involved in admissions interviewing, training, and the assessment of undergraduate medical students.

I am a surgical trainer and have a particular interest in designing computer software and simulators to aid surgical training. I have always been passionate about helping others I’m extremely proud to serve the Yorkshire region through my NHS and private practices.
